Do Today What Can Be Done Today!
“Do today what can be done today…for tomorrow will never come.”
How profound that statement can be for all of us. Too many times, I look at my list of tasks that I have to do and I think, “I can do that one later”. But guess what….that time never comes!
If I am not diligent in doing things RIGHT AWAY, then too many tasks get put on the back-burner. And believe me…I have a task list that overflows each and every day! And when too many things are on the back-burner, then that’s when we all get overwhelmed.
Overwhelmed feelings cause us all to procrastinate. I am just as guilty as anyone else when it comes to procrastination. Certain things I have a tendency to procrastinate in more than others. And it’s those things that I work on the hardest to complete.
So how do we get rid of these overwhelmed feelings so that we don’t procrastinate? We really can’t, so we must learn to manage these feelings so they don’t take over our lives.
One way to manage these overwhelmed feelings is to take action on items right away when you have them. Don’t wait until a perfect time reveals itself; because that time will never happen.
When we start taking actions to get things completed, that’s when we start becoming more and more productive in our lives. We are more happy and energetic to complete even more tasks. And that’s when tasks start flying off our lists.
When you start doing, that is when you become a recovering procrastinator. That is exactly what I am. I spend each day bettering myself so that I can be more productive in my life.
I think this is a fitting post as my first post on this blog. I don’t necessarily need a blog running for my business, so I put this off on the back-burner to be done later. It’s definitely been put off for far too long as I have a lot of things I would like to share with everyone.
While I have been working on doing things now rather than later, I decided to make this post since I thought about it today. Who knows when I’d think about it again…probably in another few months; which is exactly what happened to this blog. This is why you must do things now rather than wait; you never know when you’ll actually get them done.
Let me leave you with one last point…
You must first do before you can become. By doing and taking action, you become who you want to be. Do today all that you can do; for today, you are being who you really are.
